I have found an excellent post about building backlinks and doing SEO. Even though the post is about getting your Squidoo lens ranked highly in Google, but the same advice and principles can apply to anything.

The post does not give any new or unique ideas on link building. But it provides advice for you if you hate the task of building links. The post is more about getting the link building work done than about different methods to get backlinks. It is about enjoying the link building work and getting it finished, even though you may hate it currently and may be putting it off a lot of times.

Most people will agree that link building is a tedious and boring work. For that reason, I avoid or put it off many times. The author of this blog post also faced a similar problem, and provides helpful tips to overcome this issue and carry on the tasks that are needed to be done.

This blog post gives suggestions on what to do and how to get links built even if you don't like the process. There are actually many ways to build links. If you think deeply, you might find one or two ways which are at least tolerable for you.

Maybe you had a lot of success in the past with any one or more methods of link building. If you focus on those ways to build links, and repeat the same process whenever you have to get backlinks, the task will become easier for you. You will at least get the link building work done more times than currently.

Let me talk with examples.

Building link wheels (or link pyramids), article submissions, press releases are some of my preferred methods of link building. I experienced decent amount of success in the past with these methods. It may not be that I gain a lot of pleasure doing these tasks, but at least they are tolerable and doable for me. And I have memories of past success while employing these methods. So now I can focus on these more than the other methods.

On the other hand I am not too fond of social bookmarking, software submissions, RSS submissions etc. These methods might work very well for others, but I find it too boring to do these.

So I will not focus much on these, only do them occasionally. This is what I like best about this advice - the author did not give a common advice for all. Instead, she said to find out what methods you enjoy and focus on those. So each person will do those link building tasks which are dearer than others to him/her.

This is in contrast to the advice given by most people (gurus included) that you need to focus on such and such link building method to achieve maximum results. Even though a particular method might be the most effective, but if we don't enjoy it then we are not going to do it frequently.

So we probably won't get such good results with it as we don't use it frequently enough. So people should modify their link building strategies to suit their own tastes and preferences. You may get much better results this way.

I liked the advice and can't think of any reason why this advice shouldn't be effective and good for people like me who don't enjoy link building process much. Many times I sit in front of my computer with the firm intention of doing link building work. But I get distracted easily and end up doing something else or wasting away my time by mindless browsing.

This advice should really help out in such cases. At least it will make me think about and focus on those few ways of getting backlinks which I enjoy or at least don't find so intolerable. What do you think?

Article marketers love ezinearticles website. Part of it is due to the fact that we can get very easy rankings for long tail keywords by submitting articles here.

Earlier people didn't build links to articles. They used articles to build links to their own sites but didn't build any links to these articles. Later on they realized that building links to the articles would help in these articles getting ranked higher for the targeted keywords. Also, the page rank of the article page will increase and it will pass more link juice to our own websites.

However, if you noticed, goarticles and articledashboard respond better to link building than ezinearticles. You submit articles to these 3 sites and then build a few links to each article. You may notice a very rapid increase in rankings for goarticles or articlebase sites. However, ezinearticles may not have responded so favorably or quickly to the link building.

What could be the reason for this? Why does Google prefer goarticles or articlebase over ezinearticles even though the quality of articles here is probably much better?

Wasting Time on Internet

Problem with me is that when I sit on the internet to do some important stuff, I get distracted easily and spend up a lot of time just browsing sites or forums. I guess there are a lot of people who waste time like me.

Before we know it already a few hours have passed up. It is easy to get distracted from your work on internet. Sometimes I guess we purposely get distracted as we feel lazy and don't want to do the work lying in front of us.

This will have an effect on the productivity and ultimately may have a huge effect on our income levels. The sooner we curb this habit and the more we curb this habit the better. Sometimes we will still be affected by it, but if it does not happen frequently then I am happy.

I have been guilty of this for too long a time:
I too have been guilty of this behavior on numerous occasions. I would buy and download the latest ebook or video, teaching the latest secret to quick rankings in Google or about how to earn thousand dollars in a month etc.

I spent a lot of time reading these stuff, but didn't spend as much time implementing the stuff. It became a kind of addiction with me to keep buying new things at regular intervals (every few days or so).

What was the reason I was behaving in such a manner?
I used to think that people do this because they are disappointed with a product after its purchase, as the methods outlined in it require hard work. I thought people are generally looking for a quick fix solution to start earning lots of money very quickly, and for that reason they continue to buy new products in the hope that they will suddenly come across a secret technique which will bring guaranteed results they have been looking for.

But now I think this is not the primary reason why people indulge in such behavior. I suddenly realized the actual reason why people keep buying products after products without trying out the methods mentioned in the ones they have already purchased.

This realization came suddenly to me one day while I was busy with some other work. When I thought more about it, it made a lot more sense to me.

Here is the real reason why people do so:
The real reason why people do so is not because they are looking for a magical solution to earn lots of money very quickly. NO - I don't believe this is the real reason.

I don't think people are that stupid not to realize that earning lots and lots of money is not so easy, and it does take time. People do realize that, even though they may keep buying product after product which promises instant riches.

After a few days and after buying a few products, many would come to realize that making money does indeed take time and hard work.

But the real reason why they foolishly continue to buy the next product is because of the human tendency for laziness.

YES - it is laziness which drives such behavior. Let me explain more clearly what I mean.....

When you buy a product and you like the techniques mentioned therein and think it is worth a try, what do you do?

I guess that most newbies would get pretty excited and will be very very eager to try out these techniques. But in many cases they will procrastinate and postpone starting the project they intended.

Later on when they again sit in front of their computers, they now have 2 options - either start working on the project which they had postponed, or completely forget about it for the time being and do something else.

The Human Nature:
Now, human nature is such that we usually opt for the easier thing when we are presented with multiple options. Even if the easier option is not the best one in the present circumstances, we usually go for it if we lack the discipline to control ourselves.

This is precisely what happens with the newbie and struggling internet marketers. When they sit in front of their computers they have 2 options - work on the projects which they know hold promise, or wander aimlessly on the internet.

Most of the time, these newbies opt for the latter option because it is easier. Please note that they choose the second option because of laziness and not because they are hoping to find some lucky formula which can help earn them thousands of dollars.

Most of these people are smart to know that hard work, consistency and patience will pay them off in the long run. But they lack the discipline to do what it takes for making real cash online.

They are not idiots or dreamers hoping to stumble upon some secret techniques. They are just plain lazy and lack proper self-control.

I believe that these are the primary hurdles for the majority of struggling internet marketers. They have to fight off their laziness if they want to succeed in the online world.

If presented with 2 options - they have to choose the one which will be most beneficial for them, and not choose the one which is easier of the two.

If they choose the easier option - they will be unable to force themselves to write articles for hours on end, or research for content, or make useful videos, or do whatever is required to drive traffic or generate sales etc.

Buying another product is an easier option, while resisting the temptation and continuing with your work, is tough. But you have to make tough decisions in order to reach big heights and to achieve your goals.

This realization had a great impact on me:
When I realized why I was continually buying more and more products, instead of working on what I already learned, it had a tremendous impact on me.

It became easier for me to start working on my projects without wasting too much time with other things. Earlier I used to spend a lot of time on useless things on internet. I would sit in front of computer for many hours, but would not accomplish much during that time.

Much of my time would be wasted and only little of it was spent on really useful and productive things. Now the scenario has changed to a great deal.

Still there is lot of room for improvement in my behavior, but there has been a huge difference when compared with the past behavior.

Now I know why I behaved in that manner in the past - it was because I was always choosing an easier option rather than one which was most beneficial for me.

Now, I try to do the things that are required - even though they may be difficult, and even though easier options do exist.

So struggling internet marketers - stop going for easier options like browsing aimlessly, hanging out in forums, buying more and more products.

Instead of that, we need to spend most of our time on things that can get us results in the long run!

40 Long Tail Keywords in Competitive 'Beauty Care' Niche

Right Keywords are among the most important factors in search engine rankings. If you are targeting extremely competitive keywords then you might end up in total frustration.

Long tail keywords are the correct choice specially for new sites. The benefit with long tail keywords is that we can get rankings for completely new sites with ease. Our websites do not need to have that many links etc.

Ping New Content and Have the Search Engines Come to Your Website Almost Instantly!

You may be familiar with the concept of pinging. In blogging terms this is an automatic process when you publish a new post on a blog. The blog sends out a message to essentially tell other services "Guys, I have a new post for you, come check it out sometime".

Usually the website receiving the ping will do just that, and add it to their content somewhere. As I say this is an automatic part of blogs, and is one of the reasons why blog posts are quickly indexed by Google.

Google might take days to find your post when it next decides to visit your website.

However, if a website like technorati indexes your website the Google bot is checking that for new content hundreds of thousands of times per day. As a result it will often quickly find your post by following the link from technorati (or another site like it) and index your post right away.

Sure would be nice if this was available for non blogs, wouldn't it?

Well guess what, it is! There are free websites that you can use to advise these sites that you have new content available, even if it's not a blog.

All you do is go to a free website offering this service, and enter a title (read the section on titles/descriptions above) and enter the URL you want to be pinged (hopefully this is the page you have just created).

Leave feed blank (or if you know what you are doing, enter the web 2.0's feed URL) and click ping.

Anything up to 20-30 websites get immediately notified of your new content.

A few things to keep in mind about pinging:

1. Only ping when you have new content.

2. Don't overuse the services.

3. Don't limit yourself to just pinging the main page though, ping any page on the same site that links to your page.

You may have 10 or more things to ping for each website. That's 10 opportunities to get Google to index your page faster!

Of course, it's possible that more than one of these pages (which they are in their own right) will be ranked separately and take it's own position in the search engine results.

I am sure you won't mind if your website is ranked 3 or 4 times, would you? I'm certainly happy for that to happen to me.

Pinging is not essential as chances are your content will be found anyway. If you are impatient like me you want it indexed about 3 seconds after you've finished it!

Pinging can be a great way to achieve fast indexing (and rankings).

Please don't over do it though. These websites are free services so overloading their services isn't going to be a good thing (we all lose out).

In fact, if you are pinging too quickly you might get locked out for a period of time.

Make sure you keep that in mind. Pinging is a great way to tell the world (or the search engines) that you have new content and to come check it out.

It's easier said than done to write great 500-750 word articles.

Some of us simply have too much to say. We have trouble reigning things in at less than 1500 words. Others are on the opposite end of the spectrum strain to make their articles long enough.

Knowing that a 500-750 word article marketing article has a greater chance of getting published on a top website like About.com, I consistently try to get all of my articles to conform to that range. Today, I reveal some of my secrets so you can get published on more top websites and ezines.

1. Create an outline

I write a lot of how-to's and list articles. They are the simplest and best articles you can write for online marketing purposes. After I write my headline, the first thing I do is write down my tips or the steps of my 'how-to.' I make brief notes of the major points I want to make without worrying about polishing anything at this point. All I want to do is jot down the skeleton of my article before I start filling in the paragraphs.

2) Fill in the outline and be brief

Say exactly what you need to say to get your point across and stop there. Remember, if you give too much of the "HOW," your prospects will have NO reason to go back to your website to get your special report or buy your products and services.

3) Save writing the intro paragraph and the conclusion for the end.

This little trick will cut your writing time in half. Some of us 'wordy' folks will instinctively go crazy on our intro paragraph and spend huge amounts of time on it trying to get it just right. Then later, we realize that we've just spent half of our word count allotment there!

Focus the majority of your words on the "meat" of the article. This is the part that is in between the intro and the conclusion. For 'How To' or other 500-750 word list articles, your intro paragraph can be as simple as two to three sentences that intrigue readers and gracefully lead them into your list. Your closing paragraph should be 2 to 4 sentences that motivate readers to take action and go to the next level.

4) Do a word count.

Copy and paste your article into a Word document and then use the word-count editing tool. This'll give you an idea of how much you need to trim (if you're over 800 words already) or how much you have to fill in (if you're under 700 words).

5) Eliminate all redundancies

Many writers have tendencies to say something one time, and then say it again in the next sentence in a different way. Just say it once, clearly and concisely, and then move on. Look over your article and remove any phrasing that does not absolutely have to be there.

6) Remove unnecessary words

Here's a task you should complete even if you are in the 500-750 word range. Try to cut down your total word count by 10 percent. You can easily complete this task by eliminating unnecessary words. For example, if you write statements like, "It seem to me that most people prefer soft baked chocolate chip cookies rather than hard ones," you've just used up 5 unnecessary words. You don't need: "It seems to me that." Don't second-guess yourself by putting the qualifier "it seems like," "I think" or "I believe."

7) Create 2 articles out of 1.

If your word count is too long and you've trimmed out as much as you can from each section, you may end up needing to make your "Top 10" article into two "Top 5" articles. If you follow this tip, make sure you write each article as a stand-alone article. When you put part 1 and part 2 in the title, you limit your chances for publication success.

One of the questions I received today from one of my subscribers is this: How do I write relevant articles fast? After I wrote the response I began to think, I wonder how many of you could use this information - so here is the response I gave to my subscriber on how to write relevant articles fast:

To write relevant articles fast, one of the real keys is getting complete control (knowledge) of the content itself so that you can write from knowledge, not research. This may be difficult at first, because you may not know your niche inside and out, but with a little research, and practice writing these articles, it will become easy over time. That is one thing I cannot stress enough - article writing gets easier over time, so I highly recommend practice - and that means writing lots of articles!

Once you have the knowledge in your head instead of in your research materials. you are only constrained by the speed at which you can type. For example, I type about 50 WPM, and it takes me almost exactly 8 minutes to write a 400 word article, because I am working with knowledge, not research.

Then to make the article flow easily, write a 100 word introduction - the introduction will tell the reader the problem you are going to solve in the article, why solving this problem is important, then tell them how it is you are going to solve it.

In the next 300 words, write 5 points of 60 words each, each point telling them one step to solving their problem. Obviously you can expand or contract the number of points, and then change the number of words to make the total 400. Once you have written 50- 100 articles, you will be able to follow this formula without much thought - you will be able to naturally write using this formula.

I have tried pretty much every technique to try and improve search engine ranking. Some of these techniques work better than others of course, and some are pretty reliable. There is, however one technique that, for me at least, reliably gets quality backlinks from high PR sites and produces results quickly.

I have studied the results and my server logs have shown me that links back to my sites appear quickly using this method. Google take their sweet time updating PR of course, but the links are registered within days of the technique being used, which is pretty darn quick. The links are not any old links either. A little bit of investigation reveals that in the main, the links originate from high PR sites.

What's more, it is fun to do!

Like with most of these techniques, there is some work involved, but thankfully, it is not too painful. And the results bear witness to the work being worthwhile.

There is also a fair bit of scope to be creative as well. There are a number of variations to this link building exercise, so your creative juices can be allowed to work their charms on the search engines.

Perhaps the best bit of all is that the links are all one way, and so there is not the painful house keeping exercise of reciprocal link maintenance that traditional link building leaves you with.

There is another side benefit to these techniques as well.

You can actually create viral link building machines, that zip your own preferred links all over the Internet. Just use a bit of craft and guile and you could be creating internet fireworks that explode with cash every time someone uses them! Ok, so that is a bit of a flowery explanation, but I am sure you know what I mean.

The bottom line is that not all methods to improve search engine ranking are created equal. And this technique is created more equal than most!

Why Does Article Marketing Have a Long Term ROI Higher Than PPC?

I get a variation of this question a lot in my coaching programs. I am just a real avid supporter of article marketing (almost all of my first time visitors come from article marketing) and so naturally when I coach and teach, I recommend article marketing.

But sometimes what happens is that someone writes 5 articles and posts them to the article directories and gets...a few subscribers to their site - and then they become discouraged. They think, well I can get 100 subscribers a day with PPC. And of course that is true - I can get 500 or more per day with PPC.

But the difference is the PPC ones just don't convert like the article marketing ones.

And the bigger difference is that those same 5 articles will continue to generate subscribers in one month, 6 months, and 12 months.

I still get traffic from articles I posted to the top article directories 2 years ago! So it is really difficult to compare first day or even first month results between article marketing and PPC.

Here is another thought. Imagine that in your niche you can get clicks in PPC for just 50 cents each. And let's imagine that your conversion rate on your PPC opt in page is 20%. So that means it costs you $2.50 per subscriber.

Let's contrast that with article marketing. Let's say that it costs you $10 per article to have an article written for you. Your break even point compared to PPC is just 4 subscribers per article. What if you only got one subscriber per month from article marketing?

So the first month you pay $10 for the article, submit it to the top article directories and it generates 1 subscriber. So the first month you are in the hole $7.5 compared to PPC. The second month you get another subscriber so you are in the hole $5. The third month..you get the picture.

At the fourth month you break even with PPC. But here is where the real impact happens...the fifth month you average subscriber cost is down to $2. The 10th month it is down to $1. And it just continues.

Here is what I recommend. Write and submit at least 100 articles to the article directory mentioned above. Submit them at the rate of 5 per day for 20 days. Put a dedicated tracking link in the bio so that you can track every subscriber and every sale that comes in from all those articles.

Within several months you will almost definitely see that the ROI for article marketing is much higher than with PPC. Just do it - you will be surprised at the results!

Let's get this out of the way right now: many so called Internet Marketing experts will tell you cannot make money with your articles. According to these so called experts Article Marketing is only good for creating links to your sites and driving traffic to you sites.

Here is the reality

I have a three part response to these folks:

1. They are wrong
2. They are your competition
3. This is a good thing!

300 word article vs. a 300 page book

Most authors make between one and three dollars for each book they sell in a bookstore. And this is if they are lucky. I think that is absurd for all the work that goes into writing a book.

So here is how you can make more money for one 300 word article than most authors make for a 300 page book.

Enter "Action Articles"

Here are the steps you need to take to create your profit pulling Action Articles.

Step 1 - Write your great quality articles - Pick an area or topic from your niche and write a great quality article. Make sure you do two things: deliver on the promise of your title and provide at least one "gold nugget" of information that your reader can take immediate action on.

Step 2 - Create 3 - 5 action questions - Create 3 - 5 action questions at the end of each article. So what is an action question. An action question is a question designed to get the reader into action over the information. This gets the reader to do something instead of your article becoming another piece of "shelf-help." Ex: What one tip from this article can you begin to take action on before your head hits the pillow tonight?

Step 3 - Create your article product - Take your article with the added action questions and turn it into a PDF document and then a product on your web site. I sell these Action Articles all day every day on my web sites for seven dollars each, much more that most authors make for a 300 page book.

While you are not likely to get rich $7 at a time, when you sell your action articles you have accomplished 2 very important things:

1. Your prospect has entered into your product system, and

2. Your prospect has demonstrated buying behavior, and the bottom line is "buyers buy."

I usually submit my article to less than 7 article directories. Instead of submitting the same article to hundreds of directories, I can spend that time in writing another bum article and submitting to the top 7 again!

By top article directories, I mean those from where I usually get a lot of response. You can consider the alexa rank, google pagerank as well as number of authors registered on that site to get a good estimate about the popularity of the site. Later on, after submitting a few articles, you can judge for yourself from where you are getting better results.

Bum Marketing Tip#3:
Pay attention to title. This is a very important bum marketing tip and advice. See you want more and more number of people to click on your articles and read them. For that purpose the title of the article is very very important.

However, having said that, it doesn't mean that the article body is not important. Infact it is equally important otherwise people will just click the back button.

However if you pay attention to the title, and try to keep your article as tightly focused as possible according to the title, you may be able to produce excellent article.

Try out an article title first, then draft your whole article according to the title. Don't forget to insert the keywords you are targeting in the title.

Bum Marketing Tip#4:
Target long tail keywords. If you want to enjoy success with the bum marketing method, you have to get into the habit of targeting those keywords which have less competition. They may have less traffic also but that doesn't matter.

Anyhow you will be writing many many articles, so having just a small amount of regular traffic from each article can accumulate and you can earn handsome income with your bum marketing efforts.

Long tail keywords comprise of phrases with more than 3-4 words. These keywords are usually more targeted and obviously have less competition.

Bum Marketing Tip #5:
Focus on quality. A lot of bum marketers make this mistake of just trying to put some garbage article on the internet. They believe that they need to write as many articles as they can without worrying about quality.

This is not how bum marketing or article marketing works. Readers will not buy your recommended products if you fail to win their trust. You can win their trust and respect by providing them with good quality information that is really helpful to them.

For this you might need to research your article topic thoroughly. Do not shy away from researching and writing well. Also focus on providing some unique information which is not easily found elsewhere.

If you can provide useful as well as unique information then the readers are likely to gain a favorable impression of you and the click-throughs to your site can improve.

The above bum marketing tips are very important if you want to enjoy success with the bum marketing method. You see bum marketing method is not just a way for quick money but also for long term success if you can use it properly by following the above tips.

By keeping things new on your website, it means you have active dynamic content, which the search engines love. So keep things maintained and updated, and your rankings in the "SERPS" will rise steadily.

The first five questions were: 1) In the next seven days what can I do that will fill in the blank 2) Regarding marketing strategies, which of them are being used successfully in your industry? 3) What would be five new ways to attain new customers? 4) How do I make it really easy for people to help me and who do I know that could really help my idea take off? 5) For only $10, how could I wow blank?

Without making you wait any longer, lets get started with Question Six: How could I automate XYZ?

Armand Morin comes up with so many different product ideas that I asked him once, "How do you come up with so many different ideas?"

His response was simple but made complete sense. "It's simple. If something is taking me too much time to do, I ask myself, how could I automate this process? Ninety percent of my product ideas come from my ability to recognize what's draining my time. I'm lazy. I want to automate everything."

So constantly ask yourself the question: Are there problems my target market is experiencing and how could I solve them with a new product?

Next question - number nine: This one Alex Mandossian brought up in his presentation at the most recent Big Seminar, and it's a powerful question. How could I residualize my current products or services?

This is the best senario, constantly getting paid every single month, or whatever time frame you lay out. You should be looking at how you can get paid more than once, over and over again. Instead of having to find new customers, you will be benefitting and leveraging your existing customers.

How could my current products or services by residualized? -Ask yourself that question.

Next question, and the final question I'm going to leave with you is: How could I increase the value of what I'm currently offering?

Thinking in the customers favor and frame of mind is really going to get a whole bunch of ideas popping into your head.

When you start to benefit the costumer, the most positive feedback you and your business will receive. When you have a happy customer the more likely they will come back to you again, bring in more revenue for you and spread praises about your products and services.

Using this question I was able to get 100% satisfaction from the first seminar I ever held. I asked myself, how I could increase the value, before any of the attendees arrived. By doing so, I was able to deliver bonus after bonus to them throughout the seminar. At the end of the three days people kept coming up asking when the next Idea Incubator would be because they were thrilled at the amount of information they received!

There could be many reasons for your computer to slow down. If you have background programs running in your computer it takes up memory space making your computer run slow. The programs running at the background take up substantial RAM space leaving little room for any task execution. You will find quite a few icons in your system tray. These are some of the programs that are running at the background which not only take up memory but also CPU usage. At the time you boot your computer, some programs start by themselves. To have your computer run normally, you need to remove these programs selectively from your ""program start up". To configure your start up programs or to delete the unwanted ones, you should use Start/Search function in your Windows system.

For your computer to function normally, it is always desirable that your hard drive has free space for your computer to use when executing tasks. If you do not have enough free space left in the hard drive, your computer may get slow. In order to be safe, you should allow 3 to 4 MB of free space available on your hard disk. Some computers have more than one drive installed. In this case, you need to have the space available in your "C" drive or any other drive in which you have installed your Windows operating system. In case you do not have any free space, or the space that you have in your drive is not enough, you should delete some of the programs.

When you are connected to the internet, your windows and other software programs may start to get automatically updated at the background. Your computer will start to run slow untill the time the updating process is completed. Once completed, your computer should come back to its normal operation. If you want to stop this from happening, you need to disable all your automatic update sequences.

Windows operating system requires the hard drive to be de-fragmented regularly. Fragmentation in the hard drive scatters the data in your computer. Your Windows operating system needs to look for the relevant data all over the disk making your computer slow down. Use Windows "de-frag" regularly to de-fragment your disk system and keep a contiguous data pattern in your hard drive. Contiguous data takes less time to find as they are well sequenced throughout the disk system.

If you are keen to play games on your computer, you might not have sufficient memory installed in your system. In this case your PC will run slow. You need to upgrade your RAM to an extent that makes your computer run normally even when you are playing games.

If you have two drivers of the same device installed in your computer your PC may become slow. For instance, if you have two video drivers in your PC it will be conflicting with your Windows operating system. The system will not be able to decide which driver to use in order to drive your video system, resulting in slowing down your computer. To put computer back in its normal operation, you need to remove one of the video drivers from your system. If you want to know which component in your hardware system is conflicting with Windows, open your control panel and then click on the "system". Click on the "hardware" tab to view the device manager. There you will find all your conflicting hardware components marked in yellow, and you would either need to re-load the drivers for these devices or remove them if you find them of no use.
